It’s been such a long time since I’ve blogged, I’m not even sure if I’m doing it right. Is this format ok? Do I open up comments? Should I just jump ship for Substack?? All of sudden this landscape is foreign to me and I forget the Elder Millennial, digital native that I am, feeling far more analogue than I'm willing to admit.
Like a lot of us who’ve been around since the mid 2000s, blogging isn’t new; for me it’s how this all started. But as my rambling suggests, it's been a while. And I have to say I’m excited to get back to it, even if I'm not doing it how the cool kids are these days (if they even are).
Intentionally carving out time to share more is a challenge, I’m not going to lie. I could easily sit back and think about getting around to this for another year or two, or five, while mindlessly scrolling attention span-squashing apps, and running from one task to the next. Filling time is easy. Slowing down is not. But the reality is fast + full doesn’t always come up roses and there is so much that I want to share and talk about. A lot is design. A lot isn’t. The honest ins-and-outs of the business. What I’m making for dinner on a random Tuesday + who I’m sharing it with. Favorite spots to grab a coffee or cocktail at home here in Charleston and abroad. What I’m reading. What I’m thinking about. What’s pulling at my heartstrings. Sharing my own point of view as a designer, a mother, a nature lover and perpetually curious autodidact. Sharing others' too.
Welcome. Hope you’ll feel connected and inspired.
xo,
